With the continuing decay of the infrastructure, the focus of repair is rapidly becoming the substructure. Removal of concrete from columns and other substructures is tedious as the work is typically done using 15-lb chipping hammers.
Rampart has developed a cutting ring that can be placed around columns to perform partial depth removal for concrete repairs or shallow removal (scarification) in preparation for enlarging the column for seismic retrofit. The ring will fit columns ranging in diameter from 30 to 48-inches. There is no restriction on the height of the column that can be repaired. The cutting head can be mounted
on the top of the ring to allow removals up to the top of the column. The water jet can travel 360 degrees around the column. Proximity switches can be placed on the ring to perform patch removal.
